It's fun." </P><P> </P><P>Bieber and Tilley have worked together several times in the past, including on the <a href="/news/articles/1669447/justin-bieber-u-smile-vma-best-male-video.jhtml">VMA-nominated "U Smile,"</a> as well as "Never Let You Go," "Fa La La" (with Boyz II Men) and Chris Brown's very cinematic "Next 2 U," which features Bieber. </P><P> </P><P>"The video's really good. If you use Google products regularly and have not disabled your Web history, a new feature called Account Activity might be an eye opener. It's a monthly report from the search giant that shows just how many emails you send, your most frequent contacts, where you go and what you've been searching online.

As described on the official Google Blog, Google's Account Activity is "a password-protected report with insights into your signed-in use of Google services." So, if you have given Google open access to your Web History, the report will give you how many searches you've done, top queries and search types (Web vs. images, for instance).?

If you've consented to Google Latitude tracking where you are, then you'll find places you've visited, recent trips and a pie chart breaking down where you spend your time per week (between home, work and being out).

I've rejected both of those, so my report is on the thin side, but it did tell me that I sent 219 emails to 92 contacts, while receiving a whopping 1,797 emails from 415 contacts. And then it gave me the top three people who I've had the most contact with in the past month. I'm not surprised, but it is interesting to see it all laid out.

Bigtime YouTubers (that wouldn't be me, with a paltry 137 views of my uploaded videos) will also get details on their video views, most popular uploaded video and where their viewers are located.

There will no doubt be some griping, as usual, about the intrusiveness of Google into users' lives -- but this kind of transparency may give you insight into what personal data, exactly, Google is collecting from you. If you have opted out of some of these products, as I have, it's going to generate a report that might actually reassure you. And if not, maybe it'll be a good reminder to change your privacy settings and lock down your activity.

Earlier this month, on March 1, Google caused a commotion by consolidating all its privacy data from all its products to better sell its user information (in a big, general way) to its advertisers. We told you how to clear your Web History, and within that story, you'll also find instructions for clearing out your activity on YouTube.

Tom Vander Ark: Getting Ready for Online Assessment

Online assessment are at the heart of the promise of digital learning. Online assessments provide real time diagnostics that identify learning levels and gaps. Often embedded in learning experiences like games, online assessment provides instant feedback in reading, writing, math and other subjects. Online assessment will also improve test security -- no more eraser-Gate. Online assessment will power the future of customized learning -- the best chance we have to dramatically boost achievement levels.

Most states have started using some online assessments as part of their state testing program and they will finish the shift to fully online assessments in 2015. The two race to the top-funded state testing consortia -- SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) -- have both committed to using online assessment to make the next generation of state tests less expensive to administer with faster turnaround. Most importantly, developments in intelligent scoring have made it possible to include a significant amount of writing on these new tests as well as constructed response items and innovative performance tasks. The new tests will reflect the deeper learning aspirations of the Common Core State Standards.

In February, leading testing companies conducted a private demonstration showing very high levels of accuracy in scoring thousands of student essays (results will be made public on April 16). The Hewlett Foundation-funded Automated Student Assessment Prize (ASAP) has over 100 entrants; many are able to score essays with very high levels of accuracy and reliability. The $100,000 prize purse for the winners of the open competition will be awarded on May 9 in Washington, D.C..

The consortia have to this point remained silent about what kinds of devices their new test will run on. On one hand that implied flexibility but it is has also created some uncertainty -- many states and districts are anxious to get definitive answers so they can plan accordingly to develop high access environments.

The big question is whether the consortia will allow testing on tablets. Many schools are using tablets to create high access environments and for them using the tablets in state testing would seem like the natural solution. However, tablets as a testing option introduces lots of tough pedagogical, technological and psychometric (and eventually legal) questions. Consortia staff are aware of these issues and have plans for addressing them through research and field testing.

For me, writing is the big issue. I want to see American kids writing a lot in classrooms and on state tests. I still think of tablets as consumption devices and don't recommend them for high volume, high value production. So how would they work on state tests that require several essays? Where they are used, I suspect there will need to be several accommodations provided in tablet-centric districts including providing wireless keyboards for tablets, or providing access to laptops or computer labs for the writing component of the test. By 2015, touch screen writing may be better and widely used enough that this will be no big deal.

Comparability will be a challenge in a number of ways. What if some students have big screens and some have little screens? The ability to read a document and write a response side-by-side on one screen is highly desirable but hard to do on a tablet. What if some touch-enabled items were released and available to some kids but not others? If tablets are to be considered, the consortia will need to field-test all of these questions. It's probably most important that students be tested in the same or similar environment to their regular learning environment.

Over the next five to 10 years we need a better definition of comparability than 'the same instrument given on same day under the same conditions' -- a definition that allows multiple instruments and comparison of big data sets to inform the variety of jobs that we ask of tests. As I've said before, assessment will advance when it moves into the background.

But in the short run -- the next three years -- states and districts need to get ready for online assessment. One way or another I think the consortia will soon add some level of certainty around acceptable devices and there will be no excuse for not preparing to administer online assessments in 2015.

In January, PARCC and SBAC awarded a contract to Pearson to develop and administer, with the assistance of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), a Technology Readiness Tool. SETDA director Doug Levin (who is all over this issue) recently provided a great overview of online assessment and the readiness survey. Bryan Bleil is leading the effort for Pearson. Here's the Pearson site with everything you need to know about the survey and what you can do to get ready: www.PearsonAssessments.com/NextGenRoadmap.

While it will require some upgrades and additions, most districts already have enough computers to administer online assessment in a couple shifts (i.e., at least one computer for every three students), but the 2015 timeline does provide a perfect timeline to also make the shift to digital instructional materials. Like Florida, states should set a data not later than 2015 and begin planning the shift to online assessment and personal digital learning.

Officials: White House offers to curtail drones

WASHINGTON (AP) ? In a bid to save the CIA's drone campaign against al-Qaida in Pakistan, US officials offered key concessions to Pakistan's spy chief that included advance notice and limits on the types of targets. But the offers were flatly rejected, leaving US-Pakistani relations strained as President Barack Obama prepares to meet Tuesday with Pakistan's prime minister.

CIA Director David Petraeus, who met with Pakistan's then-spy chief, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha at a meeting in London in January, offered to give Pakistan advance notice of future CIA drone strikes against targets on its territory in a bid to keep Pakistan from blocking the strikes ? arguably one of the most potent U.S. tools against al-Qaida.

The CIA chief also offered to apply new limits on the types of targets hit, said a senior U.S. intelligence official briefed on the meetings. No longer would large groups of armed men rate near-automatic action, as they had in the past ? one of the so-called "signature" strikes, where CIA targeters deemed certain groups and behavior as clearly indicative of militant activity.

Pasha said then what Pakistani officials and its parliament have repeated in recent days: that Pakistan will no longer brook independent U.S. action on its territory by CIA drones, two Pakistani officials said. All the officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive negotiations.

Pasha went further, saying Pakistan's intelligence service would no longer carry out joint raids with U.S. counterterrorist teams inside its country, as it had in the past. Instead, Pakistan would demand that the U.S. hand over the intelligence, so its forces could pursue targets on their own in urban areas, or send the Pakistani army or jets to attack the targets in the tribal areas, explained a senior Pakistani official.

The breakdown in U.S.-Pakistani relations follows a series of incidents throughout 2011 that have marred trust ? from a CIA security officer who shot dead two alleged Pakistani assailants, to the U.S. Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden in May, to the border incident where U.S. forces returned fire they believed came from a Pakistani border post, killing 24 Pakistani troops. The diplomatic fallout has led to the ejection of U.S. military trainers who'd worked closely with Pakistani counter-insurgent forces, slowed CIA drone strikes, and almost halted the once-common joint raids and investigations by Pakistan's intelligence service together with the CIA and FBI.

Pasha's pronouncements were in line with the Pakistani parliament's demands issued last week that included ceasing all U.S. drone strikes as part of what Pakistani politicians call a "total reset" in its relationship. Pakistan's parliament last week demanded cessation of all unilateral U.S. actions including the drone strikes.

Other US officials said no such concessions were offered to Pasha, and insisted US counterterrorism actions continued as before.

The hardening positions on both sides set up a potentially rocky meeting ahead between Obama and Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in South Korea on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit. President Asif Ali Zardari met with special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Mark Grossman in Tajikistan this week, and Central Command chief Gen. James Mattis is headed to Pakistan in April.

Complicating efforts to restore relations are the demands made by a Pakistani parliamentary committee.

A personality change at the top of the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence is another wrinkle, with Pasha now replaced by Army Lt. Gen. Zaheerul Islam officially last week, a senior U.S. official said. While Islam has spent time studying at U.S. military institutions, and once served as deputy to the ISI, he is a mostly unknown quantity to U.S. officials. The staff change was not anticipated when the January Pasha-Petraeus meeting took place, both U.S. and Pakistani officials said.

The diplomatic furor threatens to halt the CIA's drone program, which in the last eight years, has killed an estimated 2,223 Taliban, al-Qaida and other suspected militants with 289 strikes, peaking at 117 strikes throughout 2010, reducing al-Qaida's manpower, firepower and reach, according to Bill Roggio at the Long War Journal website, which tracks the strikes. U.S. officials say his figures are fairly accurate, though they would not give more precise figures.

The strikes have markedly slowed to only 10 strikes in the opening months of this year, with the last in mid-March, Roggio said. That puts the program on pace for a total of 40-50 strikes for the year, less than the year before.

Roggio says the strikes so far this year seem to back up that report: out of the 10 strikes, two killed high-value targets, and another strike killed three mid-level Taliban leaders, with no large groups reportedly targeted by any of the drone's missiles. In previous years, an average of only 5 percent to 10 percent of targets were deemed high value, with larger numbers of foot soldiers and a much lower percentage of commanders among those hit.

U.S. officials took issue with the interpretation that signature strikes had ceased, adding the "U.S. is conducting, and will continue to conduct, the counterterrorism operations it needs to protect the U.S. and its interests." The CIA offered no official comment.

Other U.S. officials said no such concessions were offered, and insisted US counterterrorism actions continued as before.

In his opening salvo to keep the program going, Petraeus offered to give his Pakistani counterpart advance notice of the strikes, as had been the practice under the Bush administration, which launched far fewer strikes overall against militant targets.

The U.S. had stopped giving the Pakistanis advance notice, after multiple incidents of targets escaping, multiple senior U.S. counterterrorist officials say. U.S. intelligence intercepts showed Pakistani officials alerted local tribal leaders of impending action on their territory, and those leaders oftentimes in turn alerted the militants.

Petraeus also outlined how the U.S. had raised the threshold needed to take strikes, requiring his approval more often than in the past, the U.S. official said.

Pakistan's military wants to go back to the "Reagan rules ? the way the CIA operated with the ISI against the Soviets" inside Afghanistan, says former CIA officer Bruce Riedel, of the Brookings Institute. "We give them a big check, and they make every decision about how that is spent. Minimal American footprint in country, or involvement in actual fighting the bad guys."

"We cannot trust the ISI to fight this war for us," after finding bin Laden in a Pakistani military town, "showing the ISI was either clueless or complicit," Riedel said.

(AP) ? As Syria's bloodshed deepens, the British-born first lady has become an object of contempt for many, a Marie Antoinette figure who shopped online for crystal-encrusted Christian Louboutin stilettos while her country burned.

The European Union slapped sanctions Friday on Asma Assad, the 36-year-old wife of the president who for the past decade offered a veneer of respectability to one of the world's most opaque and ruthless dictatorships.

The Syrian government's ferocious crackdown on a year-old uprising has shattered the image of her as a glamorous, reform-minded woman who could help bring progressive values to a country that has been ruled by the Assad family dynasty for more than 40 years.

The European action ? the latest punishment imposed by world leaders on Syria for its crackdown ? bans her from traveling to EU countries and freezing any assets she may have there.

"She is one of the regime's deceptions," said Amer Mattar, a 26-year-old Syrian who recently fled the country because of the violence that has killed 8,000 people in the past year. "She is definitely part of this ugly formula in Syria."

A trove of emails ? purported to be from the private accounts of Bashar and Asma Assad and published last month by London's Guardian newspaper ? have helped unmask that deception. They appear to capture the first lady splurging on luxury goods as violence sweeps her country, placing orders for expensive jewelry, bespoke furniture, and a 2,650-pound ($4,200) vase from Harrods department store in London.

Born Asma Akhras to a prominent Syrian family living in the U.K., the future first lady grew up in the west London suburbs, a generally affluent, quiet part of the city with comfortable houses, tree-lined streets and large parks.

In a haunting twist, her family is originally from Homs, a city in central Syria that regime forces have besieged with tanks, snipers and relentless shelling to crush the resistance there. The bloodied city is now a symbol of the uprising.

Known among childhood friends as "Emma," Asma studied at King's College London, graduating in 1996 with a degree in computer science and a diploma in French literature. She was working at JP Morgan in London when she met Bashar Assad, who was then the son of the Syrian president, reportedly during a family vacation to the country.

Despite their divergent upbringings, the two could trade stories about life in London. Bashar had studied ophthamology in London before returning to Syria to prepare for a life in politics. He was groomed for the presidency after his older brother, Basil, widely regarded as his father's chosen heir, died in a 1994 car crash.

The couple married in 2000 ? the same year Bashar inherited power from his father ? and Asma quickly became a glamorous face of the new regime. With her honey-colored hair and designer clothes, Asma provided a charming counterpoint to Bashar's gawky, somewhat awkward demeanor.

She was outspoken about humanitarian issues, a fact that many Syrian now point to as a sign of deep hypocrisy. In 2009, she decried an Israeli siege in Gaza as "barbaric," telling CNN that the world was "working against the clock" to save lives there.

"This is the 21st century," she said in the interview. "Where in the world could this happen? ... As a mother and as a human being, we need to make sure that these atrocities stop."

Before the Syrian uprising began in March 2011, the Assads often were spotted driving around town, even photographed in Damascus riding bicycles with their three children: Hafez, who is 10; Zein, 8, and Kareem, 7. They live in an apartment in the upscale Abu Rummaneh district of Damascus, as opposed to a palatial mansion like other Arab leaders.

In the years after her husband ascended to the presidency, Asma played a key role in shoring up the image of the regime, gathering fawning headlines from feature writers and fluffy profiles in fashion magazines.

"Du chic, du chic et encore du chic," gushed France's Elle magazine in 2008, which went on to name her the world's most stylish woman. In 2009, Britain's top-selling tabloid The Sun introduced its readers to the "sexy Brit" who was "bringing Syria in from the cold."

One profile in particular, a deluxe spread in Vogue magazine, has come back to haunt her. Published only a month before the start of Syria's crackdown, the article rehashed the main staples of the Asma legend: Her "killer IQ"; her charity work; and the notion that, like Disney's Princess Jasmine, Asma liked to slip out into the country incognito to meet her people.

But the article ? which has since been pulled from Vogue's website ? has been ridiculed as sinister in retrospect.

The Assad household, the article says, is run on "wildly democratic principles" and is equipped with a blackboard which tracks when anyone raises their voice. In the article, Bashar explains why he studied opthamology as his chosen field of medicine. The reason, he says, is "there is very little blood."

Asma has been mostly out of sight in the year since her husband's regime came under fire. Although she has been largely silent, she appears to be standing by her man.

She showed up briefly at a pro-regime rally in January, smiling with her children as her husband said the "conspiracy" against Syria was in its final stage. On Feb. 26, dressed in a conservative black dress, she accompanied her husband to a polling station during a referendum on a new constitution..

In one of the emails obtained by the Guardian, she describes herself as "the real dictator" in the family, a tacit acknowledgment that her husband is seen in the wider world as a despot leading a suffocating regime.

The emails portray Asma as an enthusiastic online shopper. One of the emails published by the Guardian ? apparently sent as Syrian forces were preparing their ferocious assault on Homs ? appeared to catch her asking a friend what she thought about a pair of 6-inch Christian Louboutin heels, laden with crystals.

"I don't think they're going 2 b useful any time soon unfortunately," the unidentified friend replies.

The Associated Press has not been able to obtain any of the emails or independently confirm their contents.

It's not just Asma's English princess image that's been wrecked by the emails; her fairy tale marriage has also come under scrutiny. Last week, The Telegraph in London published a photograph apparently sent to her husband's account of a nearly naked woman pressing her hands against a wall. The woman's identity is not known, but the paper said it wasn't his wife.

Matron: Pastoral letter from an average lesbian to the leaders of the ...

Matron initially wrote the text below as a comment on one of the many blogposts by faithful Catholics that are currently promoting the "pastoral letter" written by Archbishop Vincent Nichols and Archbishop Peter Smith on ?gay marriage'.

As Matron has already said many a time in various fora, she is no great fan of gay marriage herself because she is no great fan of marriage. As an indoctrinated 80s feminist who grew up on a steady diet of philosophical and legal critique of the institution, she has never quite managed to overcome her resistance to a concept whose sole purpose it seems to be to privilege one way of arranging one's life over another. To her, marriage itself already always seemed to be the epitome of something that creates inequality in a society and she still wonders if gay people who want to be part of it might not maybe be selling those of us who don't down the river to some extent.

For this reason gay marriage is something that Matron has consistently refused to campaign on all her gay, adult life, preferring instead to argue for a society and a legal system where people's life choices in all their rainbow coloured variety are recognised and protected by law. She stands by that even in the face of pressure from her own community because, quite frankly, it seems a bit silly to be for something just because the Catholic church is against it.

However, it cannot be denied that:

(a) there is of course a ludicrous element of inequality in the denial of marriage to one part of society solely on the basis of the gender of the person they love,

(b) the conflation of romantic notions of love, societal objectives, religious dogma, and the law has created a myriad of messy beliefs and understandings of what marriage is and should be about, and

(c) - as the Catholic church has done - the throwing into this unholy mess of argument the imperative of marriage being solely there to enable procreation and the raising of children adds a level of irrationality and - lets face it - entertainment value to the debate that deserves its entirely separate blog post, seeing as it also seems to deny the right to marry to those straight couples who cannot have children or who definitely and freely decide not to have them.

Much has been said and argued on that latter part in particular and many examples have been cited for loving gay relationships where children are nourished, loved and cared for, versus incapable single mothers, despicable rogues of fathers, broken homes and, not least, the Catholic church's abysmal reaction to the fact of child abuse by members of its own ranks. Indeed, Matron, like almost everyone of her ilk, now has gay and lesbian friends who raise children, including a lesbian couple who is providing that loving home for a group of three siblings given up for adoption by social services after suffering physical and psychological abuse at the hands of their heterosexual parents.

But equally, Matron knows of gay and lesbian relationship breakdowns, with or without children, where the partners had to deal with exactly the same social, emotional and legal issues as their straight counterparts. The bottom line is that we are no better and no worse at this relationship and raising children thing than straights have been for millennia. Nor should we be expected to be and Matron does not believe that a "holier than though" attitude is going to help anyone even one iota.

But what she does believe is that the discourse that is currently being had openly on the letters pages of our national newspapers, blogs and social networks is deeply offensive and hurtful, showing as it does to those of us who might just have thought that this society is changing for the better and might be becoming more tolerant, what a morass of hate and prejudice still lurks beneath the surface. To this extent it is not only damaging to individuals' mental health and self esteem but it is damaging to the very fabric of our society.

And for a church that professes to have as its major tenet the commandment to "love thy neighbour" there is remarkably little of that love shown to any neighbour who doesn't play by its own restrictive, narrow-minded and, yes, openly discriminatory rules. So even if Matron could bring herself to have faith in some spiritual superior being for whose existence there is not a shred of scientific evidence, she would never be able to believe in a god this spiteful and a church this hellbent (pardon the pun) on the exclusion and damnation of significant parts of his creation. That sort of god is not a loving god, no matter what his minions preach from their pulpits of a Sunday morning.

"Sticks and stones", one could of course argue and, on the plus side, Matron has also received many messages of support from straight friends, family and acquaintences that make it clear that things are not all bad. But the sticks and stones argument never really works very well for those of us with thinner skins and for Matron this week there was the added complication that she was actually required to attend a full Catholic mass at a time when the only reason why she would ever want to go near a Catholic church would be to picket it.

So here is the comment that she posted on that other blog in which she describes just how that made her feel. It's a bit more private and personal that her usual ramblings and she will no doubt regret posting it later, but for the time being she thinks that there isn't enough out there yet about this aspect of the whole debate:

"Yesterday, I was glad enough to be there for my lesbian partner when we attended the catholic funeral mass for her grandmother, a woman who, aged 85 at the time, welcomed me into her heart and her family 17 years ago when my girlfriend and I first started going out. Walking behind the coffin into the church together with the rest of the family we had to go past a table with a neat pile of your ?pastoral letters? and, next to it, a petition on the matter, signed no doubt by many of the parishioners who were sitting in the pews waiting for us to pass.

It made it clear to me once more that although everyone in my partner?s family treats me as a fully signed up member of their clan, the same way in fact, as they treat the spouses of my partner?s siblings, the church they belong to continues to see me as a second class citizen regardless of how much time, love and committment I share with their daughter, how much I get involved in their gatherings, the care for their children and their elderly. Whatever I do and however much love I show towards my partner and those she holds dear, in the eyes of their church I will never be good enough.

I am not sure, if any of those who are promoting this letter have the capacity to understand how much hurt and offence you are causing to those of us who, although we may not be religious, try to live a life in which we do the right things, love those dear to us without constraints and in return only want to get shown the same love and respect for these efforts as everybody else.

Whatever you think about marriage and the rationale for it, the public discourse church leaders are currently creating, the comparisons they are making between what, in my and most other cases, are supportive, loving and committed relationships between two (not three, four or five) people and things like bestiality and legalising slavery etc. are homophobic and show none of the love towards your fellow creature that your own church?s founder commands.

Given everything I read in the papers in recent weeks, it took all I?ve got for me to decide to even go near a Catholic church yesterday. I did it because the woman I love needed my support and because I know the woman we were burying would have wanted me to be there. Which part of that love that we share is so lacking in the necessary quality that it doesn?t make the grade in your book? If an 85 year old Irish catholic woman could accept my relationship with her granddaughter, why can?t her church?"

Liquor Carousels? The Best Way To Affordably Drink Liquors

Once n a while it would be nice to go in your favorite bar and just enjoy the rest of the night with a couple of good drinks. And though this sounds cool and something to always look forward to, it is actually such a very expensive night out especially when you are fond not just drinking beers but really expensive liquors.

Liquors are not just any ordinary drinks you can pop in a bottle. These drinks are much more delicate and a lot stronger than beers. There is a huge assortment of liquors in the market today. And oftentimes, these drinks are sold at a very pricey cost and even much more when sold in bars and restaurants.

Since liquors can really be very expensive, sometimes it would be much convenient and money saving when you drink your expensive drinks at the comforts of your home. What's good about it is that it can be much cheaper than when you order a round at your favorite bar or restaurant.

You don't even have to spend gas driving your way to a bar and you don't have to risk going home a little drunk.

Liquors can be very entertaining drinks. They can be mixed and consumed as single shots. And the more they are taken in, the more they taste really good. If you are a liquor-lover or enthusiast and you don't want to spend so much money on drinks from bars and restaurants, then it would be better to invest in a home bar and fill it with your favorite drinks. And since you don't have the skills to pour and mix liquors on your own, you will also find liquor carousels extremely useful.

A carousel is a serving and pouring device which can hold two or more bottles of liquors in a fashionable manner.

A carousel is available in different supermarkets and they are even affordable. A carousel can hold the bottles in a upside down manner and yet manage to keep the contents in place and only dispense them by the pull of the tap.

The best carousel to choose is one that can hold different sizes of bottles. If you are in the market to shop, be sure that you know the sizes of the bottles of your liquors. Liquor carousels are really economical as they can also help you control the flow of drinks gently and even the quantity per pour.

Is big GOP money finally flowing to Mitt Romney?

WASHINGTON (AP) ? In an indication the GOP establishment may be starting to coalesce behind him, major contributors to a key Republican political organization founded by political strategist Karl Rove have boosted their financial support for front-runner Mitt Romney.

Wealthy donors like Bob Perry, Philip H. Geier Jr. and Jerry Perenchio collectively provided much of the $6.4 million in contributions last month to the pro-Romney "super" political action committee Restore Our Future, mostly from Perry's $3 million contribution, according to campaign records submitted Tuesday to the Federal Election Commission.

The donors also are among the most generous contributors to American Crossroads, the super PAC founded by Rove, who was a top adviser to President George W. Bush. Crossroads is likely to become the pre-eminent Republican group airing negative advertisements against President Barack Obama this year.

Meanwhile, Romney's super PAC rivals have struggled to keep pace financially, their cash flows at times dependent upon longtime friends or insular donors. The Rick Santorum-leaning Red, White and Blue Fund brought in $2.9 million last month, but at least $600,000 came from close supporter and Wyoming businessman Foster Friess. For the Newt Gingrich-supportive Winning Our Future PAC, nearly 88 percent of its $5.7 million February haul came from Las Vegas couple Sheldon and Miriam Adelson.

The new campaign reports illustrate the financial advantage that Romney ? the winner in Tuesday's Illinois primary ? harnessed heading into Super Tuesday primary elections early this month. Romney is ahead in the count of Republican delegates and was aided by more than $29 million worth of ads paid for by Restore Our Future.

That $29 million figure is higher than spending by any other Republican super PAC or campaign, including Romney's own campaign, which raised nearly $12 million last month but burned through that by month's end. The super PAC is also aided by business interests, including more than $150,000 in donations last month from a bloc of payday-lending companies.

All told, the money flowing to Republican super PACs is expected to counterbalance cash flowing to Obama's campaign, which has raised more than $120 million in total contributions as of Feb. 29. (The PAC supporting Obama, Priorities USA Action, collected only $2 million last month.)

Super PACs are not permitted under federal law to coordinate directly with campaigns, but the PACs often pay for media campaigns that allow candidates to concentrate on state organizations and get-out-the vote efforts. Such an effort for Restore Our Future requires big cash from wealthy financiers, who last month were newcomers, repeat donors or more generous with their checkbooks. Four of note:

?Perry, 79, previously gave $1 million to the pro-Romney super PAC in addition to his $3 million last month. He also gave $2.5 million to the Crossroads group. He heads a major Houston-based homebuilding empire and has been a million-dollar player among GOP fundraisers since the late 1990s, working closely with candidates and causes tied to Rove. Perry was a big money contributor to Bush's campaigns for Texas governor and was a top bundler for his 2000 presidential race.

In 2004, Perry was the largest single donor to the Swift Boat Vets and POWs for Truth, giving nearly $5 million to the tax-exempt organization. The group, composed of Vietnam War-era Navy veterans, was blamed for misleading attacks on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's service as a Swift Boat officer in Vietnam. Perry also gave $3 million that cycle to the Progress for America Voter Fund, another group supporting Bush.

When Texas Gov. Rick Perry ? he is no relation to Bob Perry ? entered the Republican presidential race in 2011 against Romney, Perry at first supported his home state candidate, giving $100,000 to a super PAC supporting the Texan's candidacy. But as Rick Perry's campaign faltered, Bob Perry shifted his allegiance to Romney.

?Geier, 77, a veteran advertising man, gave $100,000 to the pro-Romney group after previously donating $250,000 as well as giving $500,000 to Crossroads. He is chairman emeritus of the New York-headquartered Geier Group, a global media company. Geier was a campaign bundler for Sen. John McCain's 2000 presidential campaign and has given to the Republican National Committee, as well as to GOP leaders like Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida.

?Perenchio, 81, gave $500,000 and has donated $3 million to Rove's group since 2010. He is a former chairman for the Spanish-language Univision television network. He was a top bundler for McCain's 2008 presidential campaign. Perenchio, who heads Chartwell Partners LLC, gave $10,000 last year to the National Republican Congressional Committee and $5,000 to the re-election campaign of House Speaker John Boehner.

?Harold Simmons, 80, gave $100,000 following an earlier $100,000 donation in January. He also gave $100,000 last month to Winning Our Future, the super PAC supporting Gingrich; his wife, Annette, gave $1 million to the Red, White and Blue Fund. A billionaire, Simmons was the top benefactor for Rove's group, providing $12 million between his personal checkbook and the coffers of Texas-based Contran Corp., a holding company with interests including chemicals and waste management.

Simmons rivaled Perry as a $4 million contributor to the Swift Boat group in 2004 and was a bundler for the Bush and McCain presidential campaigns. In addition to his $12 million donation to Rove's group, Simmons has also given more than $200,000 to GOP candidates and party PACS and groups.

All told, super PACs have provided essential support for many campaigns. Gingrich, the former House speaker and winner of the South Carolina and Georgia primaries, collected only $2.6 million last month while spending roughly $2.8 million during the same period, his campaign said. Santorum's own campaign pulled in about $8.9 million in contributions during the same period, when he saw a surge in support.

94% Undefeated

All Critics (69) | Top Critics (29) | Fresh (64) | Rotten (4)

[A] stirring, emotional portrait of a high school football team in the impoverished neighborhood of North Memphis, Tenn.

It's a bit too long and a bit too vague at times, but this is a film about dedication, progress and the bond of human effort. It just also happens to include football.

"Undefeated'' needs less of what we know we've seen (the football stuff) and more of the players' and coaches' lives, which even if we feel we've seen, we haven't.

What makes this a terrific film is how much we care about the players.

Courtney really does believe all that stuff about adversity and character, and the film is moving for its modest tale of boys learning to act like men.

For all its good intentions, the film, like its main subject, is a tourist, earning trust as it earnestly captures the incredible struggles of these young men, but never digging deep enough to actually make the story theirs.

A touching documentary that offers a field-level portrait of male mentorship, compassion and unvarnished hope - all without a Hollywood ending.

It is a powerful reminder of the difference one person can make -- and of the consequences when no one is willing to make that difference.

What lifts 'Undefeated' above other sports docs is the remarkable force of Bill Courtney's personality.

It may call to mind The Blind Side or Remember the Titans, but there's no Hollywood glitz in the blighted burg of Manassas.

I regret that we don't meet more of Courtney's players, but that might have required a miniseries rather than a movie. And "Undefeated" makes sure the coach who is its central figure is more complex and fascinating than most fictional movie characters.

...an inspirational and often touching film that lets us get to know a dedicated coach who has faith in his players and delivers what he promises (almost).

This is a film that doesn't cater only to the traditional football fan.

In introducing us to [Coach] Courtney...Undefeated finds its voice

Just like a well-fought playoff win, it'll leave you a little misty-eyed.

This is one of the best sports documentaries of the last few years and while I don't think it should have won in a VERY good year for non-fiction film, I'm really not upset at all that it did.

Finds the warmth and vulnerability that is sometimes hard for outsiders to see beneath the rough, damaged exterior of the impoverished Memphis neighborhood where much of the action takes place.

The hardened inner-city kids here are far more authentic than anything Hollywood can offer, and as a result the film has a raw emotional weight that commercial features rarely achieve.

Undefeated does more to draw a straight line between the desire to win (as opposed to actually winning) and the character of a man than a thousand locker room pep talks.

'Dark Knight Rises' Is Real ... And Bound For Comic-Con?

MTV News fills you in on all the latest Batman updates in The Weekly Rising.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Batman fans received what will probably be the most important news of the pre-release for "The Dark Knight Rises": The film actually exists.

As we reported, Christopher Nolan screened a rough cut of his final Batman movie for Warner Bros. brass last week, and the legion of fans breathed a collective sigh of relief. We now know that a completed version of the film is real, and it's not just a trailer we've watched obsessively since ... December?

Yup, it's been three months since we've seen any new footage from the most anticipated movie of 2012, and we've felt every Batman-less minute of it. You go three months with nothing more than a squeak from the new Nolan Batman movie, and you start to think some paranoid thoughts. Is the movie ever coming out? Is the movie even real? But worry not, borderline psychotic Gothamite: "The Dark Knight Rises" is real and finished, presumably in the form of a four-hour rough cut. There's no official word on the reaction to the screening, as of yet.

Thankfully, the news of the rough cut closely preceded the leak of a new plot synopsis, taken from the plaque of a film cell that will eventually go on sale over at Film Cells Ltd. The cell shows Batman, Bane and Commissioner Gordon with the caption: "When Commissioner Gordon stumbles upon a plot to destroy the city from within, Bruce Wayne gets back into action as the Batman. Waiting for him is the mysterious Selina Kyle and Bane, a lethal adversary on a crusade to tear apart Batman's legacy piece by piece."

Granted, the "synopsis" amounts to "Hey, Batman, Bane and Commissioner Gordon are all going to be in the same movie. Can't really talk about it," but we can't really complain about new information at this point.

In the realm of Batman rumors that could possibly affect you — wait, let me clarify. This rumor might affect you if you were lucky enough to snag passes to San Diego Comic-Con before they sold out in 6.5 seconds. There's a chance Nolan could appear at San Diego Comic-Con this year. It would be the first time ever for the director, since his previous two Batman movies debuted before the convention. This time around, Batman will rise the week after SDCC, so speculation has already begun that Nolan could make his final bow at the geekiest of all gatherings.

If you start to consider that, the nerdy possibilities are endless. What will the panel include? Who from the cast will show up? Are we talking about an actual screening here? Can I go? Why can't I go? Please let me go!

Listen, I'm all for going into a highly anticipated movie not knowing much, and I'm glad that my spoiler levels for "Rises" have been kept to a generous low. But there should be a little more out there to tease us. In the race of the summer tentpoles, "The Dark Knight Rises" is resting on its laurels while "Prometheus" and "The Avengers" are dropping kick-ass trailers like they were nothing. It's getting to the point where Warner Bros. might need to start considering that slapping "Christopher Nolan" and "Batman" on a theater marquee might not be enough to win the summer.

And when you do finally cut a second theatrical trailer, Warner Bros., please spare us the 10-second trailer of the trailer. Those are just terrible.

Check out everything we've got on "The Dark Knight Rises."
