Andy Williams, the singer perhaps best known for his version of the Academy Award-winning song "Moon River" and his self-titled television program, revealed to the audience at his Christmas show Saturday night (Nov. 5) in Branson, MO that he has bladder cancer."I do have cancer of the bladder. But that is no longer a death sentence. People with cancer are getting through this thing. They're kicking it, and they're winning more and more every year. And I'm going to be one of them," says Williams.
Williams' appearance at the Saturday show was a a surprise, as he had previously missed planned performances this fall with an undisclosed medical condition. The theater also announced recently that Williams would likely miss his holiday schedule as well.
At the show, he sang "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" and said he would be back next fall to celebrate.
"I'm going to do the shows I've planned to do," says Williams.
Let's hope he beats the cancer and can perform like he wants to.
